Money Empire’s Beyond the Field podcast started as a bit of fun. Financial adviser and ex-professional rugby player Isa Nacewa and Co-Founders of Money Empire Kayne & Jess Wahlstrom teamed up to share our financial know-how in a convenient format. The idea was to build off Isa’s time playing rugby and Kayne & Jess’ experience helping people financially. We wanted to help sports players improve their financial security once their playing days were over, using property investment.
But a week in, we started getting calls and emails from all sorts of people asking about the podcast, most of whom were outside of the professional sporting world. We were surprised by the amount of people tuning in, so we decided to broaden our focus and talk to everyone regardless of their profession.
Beyond the Field 2.0
The advice in Beyond the Field podcast applies to anyone wanting to learn and listen not just professional sports players. And when we say Beyond the Field now, we are talking about whatever field you’re working in, whatever that may be.
The refreshed podcast will include professional advice on property, wealth and finance with real talk with industry leaders, entrepreneurs, sports stars and the success and failures of everyday people. To date, educational topics have included:
- Saving a deposit.
- Insider info on how banks and
- Securing a mortgage lenders work.
- Structuring a mortgage.
- Mortgage types
- Home Insurance
- Choosing an investment property.
- Loan to value ratios and true equity.
- The investment stories of real people.
We’ll also talk to several well-known names and people who know their stuff. We’ve recently chatted to Peter Thompson, the managing director of Barfoot and Thompson, Julia Matthews, CEO of Two Islands, Angus Brown, founder of Arepa and we’ve got a diverse and switched-on lineup of guests coming in future podcasts. Hopefully, their experience and success can help to inspire and educate.
While our new podcast has a broad focus, we’re still going to chat to our pro sporting friends. We’ve already spoken to Black Caps fast bowler Lockie Ferguson and ex All Black Ben Atiga, and we’ve got an impressive line up waiting in the wings for future podcasts.
