Managing Money Empire’s large (and growing) client base is more than a full-time job. But somehow our client services coordinator Neve Jervis manages to do it with time left over to help with everything from marketing to managing our insurance business. She’s a bit of a legend.

We had a chat with her about her role here, her plans for the future and her upcoming first home purchase.

Surfing, snowboarding, and wine

Neve was raised on Auckland’s North Shore and lives with her family in Hauraki. When she’s not at work, she’s in the water or on the snow:

“Outside of work, I love going to the beach and surfing all the time in summer. When it’s winter, I get into snowboarding and go down to the mountain. I also don’t mind a cheeky wine or two,” Neve said.

We met Neve for the first time around 2.5 years ago. Our friend Jamie Gallagher at The People Project introduced us to her, and we knew she was a great fit. Shortly after we met her, we offered her the position and knew she would become an asset to our team.

Neve’s busy work week

Over the last 2 to 3 years, Neve’s role has changed and it’s never the same from day to day. It sounds like she enjoys the variety:

“I do a whole heap of things, it’s really diverse which keeps my days interesting. I run the insurance side of Money Empire, I’m the point of contact for everything with clients, I help manage our social media alongside Jess. I’m also studying to become a registered financial advisor and beginning to work more with that side of the business.”

Neve reckons the best part of her role by far is helping people meet their financial goals:

“I love hearing stories when we’ve really helped our clients smash their goals. It could be anything from helping someone get into their first home, buying a family bach to helping someone buy their third investment property. We also have a really fun, open team environment at Money Empire, we’re all best mates, which is great!”

Future homeowner

After years of helping other people buy houses, Neve has decided it’s her turn. She’s just got pre-approval and she’s house hunting as we speak.

“Me and my sister are looking for our first home. We haven’t found anything yet but we’re searching! It’s been cool, I’m getting an idea of what it’s like to be on the other side, from our client’s perspective,” Neve said.

With a first home on the horizon and her financial advisory studies underway, Neve’s future’s looking pretty bright. She reckons the key to achieving your financial goals is to get the right advice:

“Find a professional adviser you’re comfortable with, that you trust, talk about your goals and get them to help you make a plan to reach them. If you don’t like the first or second person you speak to, find another.. It’s important stuff so you want to talk to the right person!”
